Quay River Tours from Connah’s Quay to Chester and Mostyn.

Starting in June this year (2016), the Quay Watermans Association , Quay River Tours,  (QWA- a not-for-profit organisation) will be offering River Dee boat trips from Connah’s Quay for all, using our two brand new Coulam 20 Wheelyboats.

The QWA has received funding from the Coastal Communities fund for the boats. We are based in the Kathleen and May centre on Dock Road, Connah's Quay.

The boats can seat up to eight adults or 6 wheelchair users and are fitted with the latest 90HP Suzuki Outboards.

We are particularly keen to become involved with groups. Perhaps relating the history of Connah's Quay Docks, the ecology of the river and the tidal changes or the local wildlife and photography opportunities.

We are offering taster sessions

Starting at around £5 per person to cover the running costs of the boat. (Discounts can be arranged for group/whole boat bookings). We will have around 20 minutes on the water, seeing the River around the Connah's Quay area. Hopefully you will see the potential for longer trips or activities.

Each trip on the River Dee can be tailored to whatever your requirements are.

Currently Quay River Tours can go up-stream as far as Chester Weir. The cost of this is £10 and the return trip takes around 1.5hrs in total, depending on how fast or slow you want to go or how many stops you want to make to view the various sites of interest or take photographs etc. The return fare is £10 per person, which must be paid in advance.

Later on in the summer we hope to extend the trips downstream to Mostyn and possibly out to Hilbre Island.

Safety. The boat’s skippers are CRB checked and fully insured.

The venture is licenced by the Dee Conservancy with all necessary risk assessments and safety equipment in place. In the session you will receive a safety brief and be kitted out in the latest Life Jackets.

The boats are also available for hire by individuals.

We welcome private parties, organisations such as bird-watchers, photography and history groups as well as for team building, (minimum number applies). Refreshments before, or after your River Dee trip can be arranged at the Kathleen and May Heritage Centre.

If you require any further information, or a short visit to explain what is available, please get in touch on the contact details below.
